1. Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
The activities performed in the course of a normal day, such as eating, drinking fluids, using the bathroom, dressing, bathing, brushing one’s teeth and moving from one room to another, are called Activities of Daily Living. Scientific studies have shown that the regular, routine performance of ADL not only improve the quality of a person’s life but also help them to live longer.
2. Cognitive Rehabilitation Program (CRP)
The DCI CRP is a comprehensive set of therapies designed to improve the behavioral health of our clients who suffer from cognitive impairment. It includes relational and adaptive programs, vocational programs, music therapy, and psychoanalytical therapies designed to enable our clients to be independent for as long as possible.
Our cognitive rehabilitation approach paired with a program of physical exercise has been scientifically shown to improve cognitive function and ability to balance while walking or standing. Improvements in cognition positively influence psychosocial functions, self-esteem, and self confidence.
We use structured, targeted music therapies to encourage and enable our clients to overcome depression and to recover memories. A structured, disciplined approach to music therapy has been shown to decrease depressive symptoms in elderly people more effectively than more passive uses of music, for instance, recreational group singing.
